The Strategist I & II Network offers qualifying Iowa licensed teachers the opportunity to earn one of three Special Education endorsements: K-8 Instructional Strategist I: Mild/Moderate Endorsement; 5-12 Instructional Strategist I: Mild/Moderate Endorsement; and K-12 Instructional Strategist II: Mental Disabilities Endorsement.

The Network is sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education in collaboration with nine of Iowa’s institutions of higher education. Programs of study are based on the Iowa Department of Education’s minimum core competency requirements, providing teachers a shortened path to endorsement. Once all requirements have been met, the Iowa Department of Education, rather than an institution of higher education, recommends a teacher for endorsement. Programs of study may not meet reciprocal agreements with other states.
